Weed the People: Patriotic puffs to light up your Fourth

Carolyn BerkJuly 2, 2021

Happy birthday, America! We're ready to let loose and kick back this Fourth of July weekend. If you're looking for a revolutionary way to celebrate freedom and democracy in the United States, there are many ways that cannabis can play a role.

Whatever your plans for the holiday ahead, learn how weed can help make it a July Fourth to remember!

1. Enjoy some star spangled strains

If you want to commemorate July 4th with an apt cannabis strain, you have plenty of options to choose from. While it's not quite as American as apple pie, strains Cherry PieWhite 99, and Blue Dream can still help mark the holiday with some much-needed relaxation.

Go beyond food with some geographically-inspired strains. Take a mental trip to California by paying a visit to Tahoe OGSan Fernando Valley (also known as SCG OG), or Mendocino Purps (named in honor of its roots in Mendocino County's emerald triangle). Or figuratively fly out to Hawaii with a puff of Maui Wowie

If you're interested in the continued fight for marijuana decriminalization and legalization in this country, then you may want to pause to remember Charlotte Figi and learn how this remarkable little girl transformed America's relationship with weed. One way to honor her memory is with the high-CBD strain that bears her name, Charlotte's Web.

2. Feel the freedom to enjoy cannabis

Sometimes there's just no ideal time or place to sneak away and smoke cannabis in its flower form. If you need to consume discreetly, this may be the time to explore vape pens. Not only is vaporizing oil significantly less smelly than lighting up a joint or bowl, but it also means you won't be inhaling carcinogens and everything else that comes with smoke. Buy vapes in advance for things like traveling or staying at an airBnB, watching fireworks in a crowded park, or taking a private puff at a family BBQ.

Keep in mind that oil tends to have a significantly higher amount of THC. However, there are many CBD-heavy and 1:1 ratio options that are perfect for beginners. Just don't forget to also get a compatible battery so you're all set to enjoy!

3. Day off? Indulge in edibles

Of course, the long weekend can also mean you have all the time in the world to kick back, relax, and take in the summer. Whether you'll be lounging in the sunshine at a pool or beach, or settling in for a movie marathon, there's a perfect edible to pair with any activity.

Before you take your first sip or bite of a THC-infused edible, make sure you're familiar with the essentials of enjoying edibles, including the golden rule of starting low and going slow.

Whether you're planning to cook out & chill, party poolside with friends, or bake at the beach, we'll bring the goods to you. Keep in mind that edibles can come in all forms,  like gummies, chocolate, or baked goods. Get  adventurous with newer formats like beveragestinctures, or mints. These can make it easier to pin down dosage, share with friends, or discreetly partake while at a concert, festival, fair, parade, or fireworks.

4. Show your patriotic support with cannabis

The worlds of cannabis and American veterans are more intertwined than you may expect. Of course, cannabis already helps those who have served with things like pain reliefsleepanxiety and mood-boosting benefitsThere are also increasingly more cannabis brands that are owned and operated by veterans.

In fact, veteran breeders are behind many popular strains, like JillyBean. Even the strain Jack Herer is named after the Korean War Veteran and legendary cannabis activist who dedicated his life to changing the country's perception of this magical plant.

Jack Herer's fight is not over, however. There are many ongoing cannabis-related causes that deserve your attention and support, including:

Last Prisoner Project

Transform Drug Policy Foundation

Americans for Safe Access

Marijuana Policy Project

5. Treat yourself to something different

The Fourth of July weekend is the perfect time to be your own pioneer and try a new cannabis product. After all, the thing that makes holidays special and memorable is doing something out of the ordinary!

You can always give blunt-rolling a try, or treat yourself to a new pipe.  Concentrates are a great way to take your cannabis experience to the next level. It can be as simple as sprinkling some kief in a joint or on top of a packed bowl to boost potency. Or if you really want to take a walk on the wild side, check out products like Moon Rocks or Thai Sticks, or even try your hand at making cannabutter or THC-infused foodsnacks, and treats
