Indica
Chocolate Oranges
Indica Dominant
Chocolate Oranges is a relatively new -- yet elusive -- addition to the mainstream cannabis retail market. Many cannabis connoisseurs hear “Chocolate” in the name, make assumptions about how it may taste, and they pass. But despite other descriptions of this strain suggesting overwhelming chocolate overtones, the orange citrus flavor that one might expect from a strain like Tangie is far more present. One explanation is that different taste buds simply interpret terpenes uniquely. Chocolate Oranges is indica-dominant but won’t leave you stuck to the couch. After about three hours, the pleasant comedown seamlessly introduces the indica genetics, allowing you to rest when you’re ready to call it a day. Be aware that this strain has been reported to test at high THC levels between 20-22%, and should generally be avoided by those just trying cannabis for the first time. Chocolate Oranges lineage Like many strains, the lineage of Chocolate Oranges is debated. Most agree that Mint Chocolate Chip is one parent strain, while the other parent generally varies between Orange Valley OG and OG Kush. While the name would suggest Orange Valley OG as the second half of the equation, the fact is, the two OG strains are so similar genetically that Chocolate Oranges would have ended up inheriting almost identical traits. Chocolate Oranges grows medium size plants, slightly taller than traditional indicas, and is a heavy producer with about an 8-9-week flowering time. If by luck you cross paths with Chocolate Oranges, I suggest giving it a try – I have a feeling you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sativa
Stardawg
Sativa Dominant
StarDawg is a sativa-dominant strain bred in the Bay Area by crossing ChemDawg 4 and the powerfully stimulating TresDawg. The result is a super-powered strain with THC percentages ranging anywhere from 16-22%. Medical patents typically use StarDawg as an energy-boosting day strain to help gain momentum to run errands, or work. StarDawg’s scent is very close to that of ChemDawg, as it emanates an overwhelming fuel-like odor best kept in a sealed container if looking to avoid filling a room with its musky, diesel-like punch. While StarDawg has an odor almost identical to ChemDawg, the difference is in the taste. Unlike Chemdawg or Sour Diesel, StarDawg’s taste is surprisingly sweet, with OG Kush-like earthy undertones, making it attractive to those seeking the uplifting ChemDawg effects without the harsh taste. The only downside I have found with StarDawg is that it can be a bit anxiety-provoking due to its sativa genetics. But, for diehard fans of ChemDawg, Sour Diesel, and other sativa-leaning “gas strains,” StarDawg is a champion of the ChemDawg lineage.

Hybrid
Black Mamba
Hybrid
Black Mamba is a dark cannabis flower with dusk-colored leaves that -- just like its venomous reptilian counterpart -- can pack a real punch both with its effects and pungent aroma when smoked. Black Mamba is a hybrid flower that was created through the cross-breeding of Black Domina and either Granddaddy Purp or Bubblejuice. Due to Black Mamba’s pungent terpenes, it can give some earthy after-tones when being ground up and has a very prominent taste of grape when being consumed. When burned the smoke is very smooth and can leave a reminiscent red wine flavor profile on your tongue after exhaling. Black Mamba Strain Characteristics Black Mamba upholds its bold name being an indica-based strain with a highly potent THC content. With an average THC content ranging around 25%, it’s herbal smell and grape-like profile has captivated many. Beware that Black Mamba’s highly pungent smoke brings new meaning to the term “loud pack”: This is not the flower for smokers looking to consume discreetly or alone since one whiff of Black Mamba can quickly attract new friends (or unwanted attention)! Black Mamba can be easily identified by the dark coloring of its leaves, the slightly sweet aromatic smell that can drift of the nugs themselves and by the white trichomes on the flower that can make it sticky and difficult to break down. Growing Black Mamba Black Mamba isn’t the easiest flower to grow as not many have succeeded with indoor cultivation of this strain. Black Mamba is mostly cultivated outdoors in a climate of about 75-degrees F. It will take anywhere from 8-14 weeks to grow and can give you a heavy yield due to its long growing time.

Blue Dream
Sativa Dominant
You’ll feel far from blue after a taste of one of California’s most popular and stimulating hybrid cannabis strains: Blue Dream. This sought-after cross between the classic Blueberry and Haze strains can really pack a punch. Blue Dream is a perfect strain for creative teams up against a deadline, and for sharing in social settings and outdoor activities. Its sugar-dipped-berry flavor also makes it a go-to strain for making edibles. The Blue Dream effect can also be experienced in newer strains including the sweet and satisfying Cinderella’s Dream, or Snoop’s Dream.
