The Great Lake State legalized medical cannabis way back in 2008 but just got around to legalizing recreational weed for adults 21 + up in 2018. This means weed is legal throughout the state, including in Detroit. However, the state allowed each municipality to make its own decisions about allowing recreational weed sales within city limits. Sadly, Detroit was dragging its Motown feet for a bit but finally approved a recreational cannabis ordinance in 2022. If you do consume cannabis in Detroit, be sure to keep your consumption in a private place + out of view of the public. Eventually, Detroit intends to allow public consumption lounges, but those are yet to come to life.

Weed delivery is legal in Detroit, MI. When you place an order for weed delivery through Lantern, keep in mind you must be 21 + older + have a government-issued photo ID to verify your age. Also, we can only deliver weed to private residences, which means no publicly-owned places of businesses, hotels, or dorms. The person who placed the order will have to be the person that signs to prove receipt of the order, according to MI's state laws regarding cannabis delivery.

Products sold through Lantern are never marked up – you get to shop the same prices as in-store. Whether you're purchasing in-store or ordering delivery, cannabis products are taxed at 10% in the state of Michigan.

Both order minimums and delivery fees are determined by our dispensary partners and delivery couriers. Why? This helps offset the costs associated with delivery. These can vary by city and consumer location.

The purchase limits for delivery in Michigan are the same as in-store. You can buy two-and-a-half ounces of flower, fifteen grams of concentrate or up to 16 ounces of edibles, per day.

Per state and city regulations, only residential deliveries are allowed; deliveries to dorms, hotels, and/or subsidized housing is not permitted.   

You can schedule a delivery up to 24 hours in advance. Hours of operation may vary by dispensary but typically range from 11 am–9 pm daily, with the option to schedule same-day and next-day delivery if you're ordering outside of live delivery hours.

No, you do not need a medical card. A medical ID is required to purchase products labeled for medicinal purposes.
