If you’ve kept an eye on the high-speed parade of new strains ushering into the cannabis mainstream and onto menus across the country, you’ve most likely crossed paths with Zkittles. If not, I recommend using a new map...this one perhaps? Zkittles is easily one of the most embraced and beloved indica varieties to emerge in recent years, and not without cause.
The star child of all-time crowd favorites Grape Ape and Grapefruit, Zkittles deserves the adulation received during its continued rise in popularity - even picking up some awards along the way.
An homage to one of most mouthwatering fruity confectionary favorites of all time, Zkittles may not taste like a rainbow - but rather a terpene tsunami of sweet grape and orange. It’s like the sugar high you remember as a child, minus the sugar and danger of cavities - your dentist would give you the thumbs up.
There’s a lot to love about this particular indica hybrid. The tension release and cool breeze of its Grape Ape parent remain intact, while its Grapefruit lineage lends to what could easily be described as a psychedelic sensory experience. It becomes easy to fall into a trance if music hits the right wavelength, awed by creative installations, and floored by nature.
The sleepiness will eventually find its way in though, and you’ll be gently whisked off.
As one would gather from its name, Zkittzles’ buds are an incredibly vibrant combination of warm and cold tones. Bright greens and purples are accented by fluorescent orange hairs and sugary trichomes - like a bowl of fruity pebbles still swirling after the spoon’s departure.
Zkittles is truly one of few true daytime indica varieties out there to carry such a contradictory yet honest characterization.
